iOS (iPhone)

FiLMic Pro – Superior camera recording app, heavily featured with stabilisation. Expensive but worth the money for the advanced controls.

iMovie – Apple’s own editor, based on Final Cut Pro but optimised and simplified for phone and it’s free!

Adobe Premiere Rush – Adobe’s editor, very intuitive and similar to iMovie with its simple drag and drop timeline. Also available as a Desktop app.

Canva – Great little app for generating titles, free version but lacking in more advanced features. Paid version will allow you to save Scout Branding and it auto-apply to all future work.

Video Editing Software

Adobe Premiere – Subscription required, but charity prices available if you ask and provide evidence.

Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve – Free! It’s a very fully featured software, some features require payment but a full feature dongle is 300 and that gives you updates for life!

Apple Final Cut Pro – Mac only, but since the change to version X it has had a complete overhaul. Some people dislike as the timeline is sometimes unweildly but the benefit of magnetic editing overrides this. Again about 300 pounds but upgrades for life.

Corel Video Studio – I don’t know much about this but similar to Premiere.
Corel VideoStudio

There are so many editors out there, but these are the best in my opinion. Don’t be suckered in by sales talk or attractive prices, use one that others have used.

Music Sites

Creative commons music is always free, but they come with licenses.

http://ccmixter.org/
https://freemusicarchive.org/

Always check the licensing requirements and adhere to them:

Unfortunately some of the bigger sites are moving to a monthly subscription. If you are making a lot of movies, then I highly recommend:

These guys are the go-to for the industry and the pricing can be really attractive. You are licensed during your subscription when you upload. If you leave the license stays (as long as you uploaded during).
